Quilting in St. Louis

Quilting classes and studio time are available right next door to our main studio and Makers' Mart. We provide a fully equipped space, professional tools, and community support for everyone, from first-time quilters to experts. New quilting classes are posted seasonally and go live for registration mid-month before each new season begins.

Quilting Classes

Enhance your skills with specialized quilting classes tailored to different quilting styles and levels of expertise. These classes are taught by City Sewing Room instructors. 

Longarm Quilting

We offer commissioned quilts to help you achieve professional-quality quilts. Please note that our current turnaround time for commissioned quilts is 6 weeks.

Embroidery

Along with quilting in the Annex, we offer embroidery services such as commissioned embroidery and various embroidery classes. Click the buttons below for more info.​

What Quilting Services Do We Offer?

Quilters' Support Studio

Bring your quilting projects and your questions to the Quilter's Support Studio at City Sewing Room! Whether you’re tackling unfinished projects (those UFOs hiding in your closet), need extra space to cut and measure, or simply want guidance from experienced quilters, this studio time is the perfect solution. Plus, it's only $10 an hour!

During open studio hours, you’ll have access to:

  • Large tables for basting and layout

  • Rulers, rotary cutters, and other shared tools

  • Expert advice and encouragement from seasoned sewists and quilters

  • The option to drop off a quilt to be longarm quilted by City Sewing Room

Free Motion Quilting on the Sit-Down Longarm

We’re thrilled to offer a new opportunity for quilters of all skill levels: Free Motion Quilting with our donated Tiara sit-down longarm machine. This machine is ideal for small quilts, baby quilts, and art quilting projects. It’s available for use at just $10 per hour after you take our Intro to Tiara class.

 

During the intro class, you’ll learn:

  • How to thread the machine and set up stitches

  • Project prep tips for best results

  • Free motion quilting techniques and design ideas

 

Guidance is available while you quilt, so you’ll never feel stuck.
